Roller coaster ride

September 14th, 2009 at 1:09pm MST by Melissa

Duh?  I forgot!  After chemo comes the roller coaster ride.  Yes, celebrate the up and hold on for the down.

I was greeted stopped abruptly by the welcome desk today upon entering the hospital.  Yes, it’s FLU season and they don’t want any children in the hospital.  I know, it makes sense.. but my heart was broken.  Kate is my side-kick M,W,F.  Where I go, she goes.  She is a pretty good trooper (we did a 3 hour lunch the other day, she slept for half), so I thought we could do a long day today with Morgan.   WRONG.    We negotiated and bypassed the “guards” to make it to the fourth floor.  We didn’t visit long, he doesn’t feel good; headache, fever, worn down and he needs to sleep.

Please keep Morgan in your thoughts and prayers.

Ideas for prayer:

  • * chemo aka PacMan is eating the cancer
  • * Morgan organs and body are protected from chemo
  • * He has strength to fight and hope for a future
  • * any existing infection goes
  • * protection against further infection
  • * Morgan would have peace, comfort, rest…..
  • * Kasha would know she is loved, see and feel supported and encouraged (she’s incredible)

I’m sad and broken today.  It’s the same feeling I had last round during the aftermath of chemo.  I’ll celebrate the fun, happy memories of the weekend, meditate on scriptures that bring me comfort…. and well maybe some ice cream too.

My comfort? What brings peace to my anxious heart?

My soul is downcast within me. Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: because of the Lord’s great love we are NOT CONSUMED, for his compassions (mercy) never fail. They are new every morning; great is his faithfulness. I say myself, “the Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him. Lamentations 3:19-25

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might he increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tierd, They will walk and not become weary.
    Isaiah 40:28-31

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
    Jeremiah 29:11

death to the disease:LIFE TO MORGAN! This is WAR!

That God is on his side and has heard our call is so evidenced by the quick and effective solutions found by Morgan’s great medical team, the keen insight into his uncommunicated physical needs sensed by his extraordinary wife, and his remarkably positive response to his treatment!

We Team Morgan believe that the diagnosis of cancer is NOT A DEATH SENTENCE for MORGAN; that his pupose is not yet fulfilled and that it is not time for him to depart this earth!

We his family cherish the loving, gentle, wonderful soul that he is and love HIM, support his DREAMS, and believe in his FUTURE!

We his prayer team stand against the power of death, ward off the powers of darkness and crave the healing, miracle working power of God in Christ Jesus. We believe that God is good and his mercy endures forever. That even though the laws of genetics have victimized Morgan, the law of LIFE in Christ Jesus sets him free from the law of sin and death!
