To my family of friends,
I lost my brother and close friend Sunday night.
Morgan James Strub- cherished and beloved husband to Kasha, loyal and devoted brother to 3, uncle to 6, son to 5, nephew to 2, cousin to 5 and friend to thousands- Traveling In Peace- hitchin’ to heaven.
September 25, 1973 – March 28, 2010.
Morgan was all about gathering people together to share life. He welcomed ALL with their differences and facilitated a safe place to find some commonality.
He wanted a CELEBRATION (not a “service”) to bring all of his people together. Come, this will serve as your time to visit with his family and friends to recognize and celebrate the impact he had on our lives.

********a note from my heart ******
These last ten months have been heart breaking and life changing. I am devistated by my loss of Morgan. I could have not have persevered through this without my God and your commitment to being there for me in thought, prayer and tangible support. I have felt God’s loving arms and seen his grace and mercy all along the way and I have been able to share that with Morgan and Kasha daily. Thank you
.
My girls and I will be hosting a bake sale for Uncle Morgan at the event from 5:00-6:00ish. Help us get the party started.
There will be an outdoor (kid-friendly) fenced area where we will be selling baked goods and visiting with friends. This area will also host the raffle/ auction items. Inside is grill/bar and the musicians. Come and go as you can- stay and spend money as you like.
If you are unable to attend, but would like to contribute please visit any Bank of America branch. Contributions are being taken by Melissa Frederick for Morgan Strub account # 457018436837. All funds raised will go towards off-setting accrued medical bills, taking Digihitch.com- not for profit, and publishing Morgan’s personal life story and tremendous memoirs of his years hitchhiking across America.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we struggle through these days of mourning and grief. I miss Morgan- every minute….

Melissa,
I am so sorry for your loss. Please convey my condolences to all of your family. I did not know Morgan in person but got to know him through Digihitch as mamawolf while keeping up with my son Phillip (Rabbleraus) as he hitched across the US. The site was a godsend for me during that time and I thank Morgan for having it available. He touched so many lives without even realizing and he will be greatly missed.
I’m really sorry for your loss. I’m truly going to miss Morgan. I’m glad I got the chance to travel with him for a bit, he touched and changed my life.
So sad to hear of Morgan’s loss. We hitchers are always looking for the “best spot” to hitch from. I’m sure Morgan has already found his spot. My condolences to you, Kasha, and to everyone who knew Morgan.
John

Dear Melissa,
Having lost my brother to cancer last May, I know how deeply your loss must be.
I heard about Morgan’s death a few days ago. At Our Cancer, we remembered him. Please feel free to stop by our site any time (www.npr.org/ourcancer). We share so much there, and it’s a safe place to let your heart speak.
May his soul forever rest in peace. And may peace be in your heart.

Hi Morgan’s family,
I’ve never met any of you but Morgan was a very important part of my life for the past 4 years. Morgan is responsible for the relationship I have with my fiance, Phillip Moore, who has been friends with Morgan since a very long time. Phillip and I are really grateful you all have been doing this blog. Thanks so much for letting us keep up with Morgan from across the country. I am really happy to hear that you are planning to commemorate Morgan in such a positive way this weekend. We won’t be able to make it there but our thoughts are with you all.
Sincerely,
Liz de Reeder
Melissa and family,
I’m so very sorry for your loss. I have followed Morgan’s story during this difficult time and could tell what a GREAT bond you all had together. You will always have such great memories to cherish. Not everyone has that so hold on to these sweet times. You all continue to stay in my thoughts and prayers.

To Morgan’s family,
I am so, so sorry for your loss. Though I never had the good fortune to meet Morgan, I have benefited greatly from Digihitch and will be going on my first hitchhiking trip this June thanks to the confidence I’ve built up from the website and forums. In addition to all that he accomplished in life, Morgan’s work on Digihitch alone is a great legacy that I hope will live on for quite sometime. Please know that your husband/brother/son/friend has profoundly influenced the life of some random guy in Richmond, Virginia.

So very sad to hear of Morgans passing. Although we never actually managed to meet up, we communicated thru Digihitch. Morgan was a true pioneer with a desire to create something that would touch the lives of thousands. He did this very successfully thru Digihitch and as one very prominent hitcher quoted regarding Morgan; “He was one of the most influential contributors to the Hitch-Hiking Sub-Culture in recent times”, I would add that he will most likely be remembered as THE most important contributor to Hitch-Hiking in modern times if his dream – Digihitch, is allowed to continiue.
Digihitch is part of Morgans legacy but so is the warmth, wisdom and openness that Morgan gave so freely to everyone. He certainly had an impact on my life and I”ll miss him greatly. May God Bless Kasha and his family and may he give you all the strength to get thru this difficult time.

I’m just now hearing about Morgan’s dead. I was a regular at Digihitch years ago when I was traveling, but have been out of that loop lately. Me and Morgan had a few good conversations online and that site was a godsend as some here have put it for keeping in touch with people and finding out important information.
Sorry to hear of this loss.
Oh. I’m shocked. I met you all years ago in Austin–spent 4th of July 2002 out at the ranch. All of the sudden, the name “Morgan Strub” popped into my mind while on Facebook, and I decided to look him up. That led me here. I’m so sorry for your loss. And happy for Morgan to have liberated from this plane and moved on to the next great adventure.
